The Chausie cat is very dog like it’s body is large in size. They should have heavy boning with a full broad chest profile. Since they are descendants of the pure jungle cat they are strong with well toned muscles and moderately long legs. Coming in many colors that include black, black smoke, silver looking smoke, black with silver ticking, ticked golden, reddish fawn. All chausie cats should have darker markings on ears, legs and tail the rest of the profile is ticked over. The Chausie is not recognized by the CFA, but is accepted by the TICA for registry.

Chausie cats weigh around 13-25 pounds. Female chausie cats tend to be smaller than males. When owning a higher percentage chausie cat you should be aware they requirement activity and constant enrichment or they will become quickly bored. Boredom can leads to agitation which in return cat lead to foul behavior. This happens in many dog breeds that require daily exercise but the owners fail to provide such outlet of energy.When given proper treatment they make great pets.

Chausie cats are very loyal to their family. As a rule of thumb cats that are more energetic should be feed a diet high in protein, low in fat and NO grains such as corn. Taste of the Wild cat food is a very good choice or higher end EVO cat food. Chausie cats both male and female can take up to 2 or 3 years to reach full size. Some times even longer. Size depends on the parents but not limited to just the first generation removed from the cat. Chausie cats and kittens are known for their speed and nearly six foot vertical leap when an adult. If you are thinking of adding a chausie kitten or kittens to your household remember they need daily enrichment in their lives. Two kittens may be a good option to provide you cat with an outlet for energy.
