Blue Bengal what is that?
The Color gene is responsible for producing a blue Bengal. This gene is known as a recessive gene, meaning that it can occur in any color and pattern on a Bengal without the blue gene necessarily be seen in the cat. When a blue Bengal male is paired with a blue girl Bengal, all kittens will be blue Bengals. It is also fully possible for two non-blue Bengal to produce blue kittens if both are recessive carrier of the color gene. Or in future generations if the recessive gene is still worn by the offspring. The Blue Bengal is unique, has incredibly soft fur and has a very mild and calm temperament. Natural wildly unique appearance makes the Bengals stand out from other cats If you love Bengal, you will love the Blue Bengal too!
Can you show a blue bengal cat?
These days, the blue Bengal appear only on the TICA show in the ‘new traits’, and are not eligible for the championship. The Blue Bengal concern, has submitted an application for promotion to the Championship status of TICA and waiting to find out the timetable for assessing the application so they can continue with the next steps.
Interesting Facts:
Interesting .. Bengal breeders that have had quite a lot of experience with the blue Bengal have found that when dealing with a recessive gene like the blue color gene, often other recessive genes come into play in the same kitten as a desirable major spots in the rosette pattern, or the “glitter” gene, which also produces some of the softest and most pelted coats of Bengal cat. This is one reason that in some areas, the demand for the blue Bengal is high. It is becoming more desired, and some breeders have chosen to work specifically with the blue Bengal to try to get this color recognized within the official Bengal breed standard in its own color class and division.
It has been pretty much controversy in Bengal society about the value of the blue Bengal used in breeding. Many Bengal breeders know that when you work with a recessive color gene the blue gene, when it is registered in a breeding program, it is a difficult and lengthy process (sometimes nearly impossible) to then try to eliminate the gene from showing up in Future generations.
As kittens, the blue Bengals usually have a color that is best described as `battleship gray or blue-gray ‘, spessielt the tip of its tail and markings on its forehead. The markings will be blue-grey and they will have a grey-beige background color. Blue Bengals will have yellow or green eyes like adult, but yellow seems to dominate more in a blue Bengal than the green eye.
Blue Bengals can also have a peach colored undercoat, and often have a especial softness and elegance that creates its own style. The way the blue color gene functions (and blue is considered a color the diluted form of the traditional brown tabby color), it can be blue spotted and Marbel Bengal, blue lynx point mocked and marbled Bengal, blue mink spotted and Marbel Bengal, blue sepia spotted and Marbel Bengal, etc.. There is no doubt that the blue Bengal is unlike any other Bengals, and currently there are only a few breeders who engage in these unique blue Bengalis.
