*I just wanted to state that getting Ringworm, Giardia or FIP can happen to ANYONE at ANYTIME. Some things are as simple as touching the counter at walmart. BActeria is EVERY where! Just because a breeder gets some thing once does not make them a bad breeder, what mattter is what they DO about the situation.*
Let me start off by saying I been ripped off more times than I like to share by unethical cat breeders. After it happens you feel like a real idiot. You realize with out a signed contract by both parties your basically up a river with out a paddle. Many times I’ve thought I found the right breeder and regretted it for years afterward.
What constitutes a “unethical” or “bad” cat breeder? Well many have different options and some times those options are deserved and some are formed after being mislead by false information.
List a bad breeder signs:
(Kittens should not be sold to a buyer if the seller KNOWS about these issues)
What do I mean by kitten buyers being mislead by false information? Well with an business whether hobby or straight for profit you have competition. This means that cat breeders often can pit them selves against each other. It’s my option that these are true “bad cat breeders”. The ones that get so caught up in being the “best” that they truly just bring them selves down. Rather than work together they only work for them selves, unwilling to work towards the common goal of doing what is best for the breed.
Unfortunately some times you have spammers, rival cat breeders or just plain “concerned citizens” that pose as buyers to spread lies about other breeder. They make it there mission in life to talk trash, bad mouth and all around be a HUGE pain in every ones side just so they look better. Some times its even for no reason what so ever! That is the internet for you folks, any one can say anything and get it to be the “truth”.
How to tell a bad breeder on the spot can be easy. These people call them selves breeders but are often hoarders. Hoarding is a medical condition. Often a buyer will buy cats or kittens from hoarders because they feel they have to get the animal out of the conditions it is living in. This only adds the repetitive cycle that the “hoarder” or so called breeder is already in. What they really need is professional help by a license therapist.
