1) What does “ABC” stand for in Savannah Cats?

The “A” , “B” , “C” or “SBT” means how many savannah cats are in the pedigree of the cat.

The ABC’s are used for new breeds of cat that still allow out crosses of different breeds of cat to help the development of the breed. Interesting for you to know almost every breed of cat was developed by breeding several different cat breeds together.

Savannah x Domestic =  A

 Savannah  A  x   Savannah A   =  B

Savannah  B   x   Savannah B  =  C

Savannah  C   x  Savannah C  =  SBT

2) What does “F” stand for in Savannah Cats?

The “F”  means how many  generations away from a pure African Serval Cat they are!

Each “F” generations can be determined by what the Savannah Cat Mother is, example:   F1 mother breed to a F7 male is a F2 savannah.

Remember: The ABC’s do not effect what generation the savannah cat is but only define how many savannah cats are in the pedigree.

Serval  x  Domestic =  F1  (50%)

F1 Savannah   x   Male Savannah  =  F2

F2 Savannah   x   Male Savannah   =  F3

F3 Savannah   x   Male Savannah   =  F4

F4 Savannah   x   Male Savannah   =  F5

3) T.I.C.A  Savannah Cat Standard

A) Approved Savannah Colors

Black,  Brown Spotted Tabby,  Silver Spotted Tabby and  Black Smoke

B) Shape of Savannah cat head

Broad,  modified wedge with rounded contours.   Longer than it is wide.   When viewed from the front the face should form a distinctive triangle.   The head is slightly smaller than in proportion to the body.   In profile the nose is long but with a small chin and should add to the cats wild appearance.

C) Savannah Cat Ears

Ears are large and alert with a wide base and slightly rounded tips. The base of the ears should almost meet in the front centre of the head.

D) Savannah cat eyes

The eyes are somewhere between oval and almond shaped. The color should be a rich yellow, green, golden or caramel brown.

E) Savannah Cat Neck:

Thick and muscular as well as long.

F) Savannah Cat Torso

Long and almost oriental but more massive. When viewed from the side the chest and flank form a long triangle. When viewed from the front the cat appears narrow due to the extreme length of legs, depth of body and length of neck.

G) Savannah Cat Boning

Strong yet supple.

H) Savannah Cat Legs

Strong and slender, yet sturdy. The feet are small with long toes.

I) Tail

Sturdy, thick and three-quarters the length of the average cat's tail. When the cat is at attention it should be, at times, curled up and back slightly over the rump.

J) Coat

Short to medium and dense, soft and luxurious.
